1. Master’s Degree
Complete the required course study and related research training in the master's program. Pass the mid-term assessment, complete the research and the dissertation, fulfill all the requirements and achieve the prescribed standard for master’s degree.
During the period of master’s studies in Hohai University, the applicant of master's degree should publish one or more academic papers related to the content of the dissertation as the FIRST AUTHOR (or the first author as the supervisor and the second author as the applicant) with the affiliation of the first author as Hohai University. To the international students who apply for master’s degree
In spite of no explicit demand for academic papers’ publishing, international master degree candidates are expected to publish papers in the most famous academic journals.
2. Doctoral Degree
Complete the required course studies and related research training in the doctoral program. Pass the mid-term assessment, complete the research and the dissertation, fulfill all the requirements and achieve the prescribed standard for doctoral degree.
During the period of doctoral studies in Hohai University, the applicant of doctor’s degree should publish several academic papers related to the content of the dissertation as the FIRST AUTHOR (at most ONE paper with the supervisor as the first author, and the second author as the applicant) with the affiliation of the first author as Hohai University. To the international students
A. Native English speakers
The applicants should satisfy the following conditions when applying for doctor’s degree:
(1) For students applying for doctor’s degree in Science and Engineering, the published academic papers should be at least ONE International SCI (Science Citation Index) paper.
(2) For students applying for doctor’s degree in Law and Management, the published academic papers should be one of the following:
a. at least ONE paper included in International SCI or SSCI (Social Science Citation Index) or AHCI (Arts & Humanities Citation Index) journals;
b. TWO papers included in SCI or EI (Engineering Index), at least ONE should be in International academic journals;
c. THREE papers published in CSSCI (Chinese Social Science Citation Information);
d. TWO papers published in CSSCI and ONE paper included in EI.
B. Non-Native English speakers
The applicants should satisfy the following conditions when applying for doctor’s degrees:
(1) For students applying for doctoral degree in Science and Engineering, the published academic papers should be one of the following:
a. TWO papers included in Engineering Index (EI);
b. ONE paper included in EI and TWO papers published in Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China (ISTIC) retrieval source academic journals or foreign academic journals;
c. THREE papers published in ISTIC retrieval source academic journals or foreign academic journals.
(2) For students applying for doctor degree in Law and Management, the published academic papers should be one of the following:
a. TWO papers included in EI or published in Chinese Social Sciences Citation Index (CSSCI)
b. ONE paper included in EI and TWO papers published in Chinese Core Journals or foreign academic journals
c. ONE paper published in CSSCI and TWO papers published in Chinese Core Journals or foreign academic journals
d. THREE papers published in Chinese Core Journals or foreign academic journals
Meanwhile, international students are encouraged to publish more high-level academic papers.
